Norma Jean (Jeanne) Scott

Jeanne Scott  began her library career as a student assistant in James Branch Cabell Library in 1973, completing her degree in 1979 while working full time in the VCU Libraries Acquisitions Department. After a three-year post-graduation hiatus in Beaufort, N.C., Jeanne returned to VCU Libraries in 1982.

Scott has worked in a variety of departments during her time at VCU, including Government Documents, Collection Management, Interlibrary Loan (at both Cabell and the Health Sciences libraries) and Circulation and Information Services. In her current position, striving to provide the VCU community with excellent customer service is the focal point of her job. 

She was the recipient of the Outstanding Professional Associate Award for 2018, presented at the Virginia Library Association's Professional Associates Forum in May. She was also named as Chair of the Virginia Library Association's Professional Associates Forum 2018-2019. In April 2022, Jeanne was chosen as President-Elect of the American Library Association's Library Support Staff Interests Round Table (LSSIRT) but had to resign in August 2022, due to a fatal illness in her family.
