Access to collections

  • Get digital access to print materials through HathiTrust accessibility program. Here's how:
    • Visit HathiTrust in your web browser.
    • Log in:
      • Select "LOG IN."
      • In the "Select your institution" drop-down menu, select Virginia Commonwealth University.
      • Log in with your VCU eID and password.
    • Search for materials.
      • Once you log in, you'll be sent back to the HathiTrust main page, where you can search for books.
      • Enter your keywords, search, and find the item you wish to access.
    • Email us to get your copy.
  • Request print books or journal articles through the interlibrary loan and document delivery service (ILLiad) or at the Cabell Library or Tompkins-McCaw Library Service Desks.
    • Items are ready for pickup within 24-48 business hours.

Wheelchair ramp on Park Avenue side of entrance. Accessible restrooms on all floors, including two oversized, universal restrooms on lower level (access by main elevators and turn left) and one restroom on the third floor (near the main elevators' service elevator). Mothers' rooms located on the lower level and the fourth flooor.

Computers and equipment

First Floor: Assistive Technology Room

  • Two computers with 20-inch color monitors
    One with Microsoft Magnifier screen magnification
  • One with Jaws synthesized voice screen reading software for accessing library database.

All public computers have Microsoft Magnifier screen magnification software.
