Students needed for Health Sciences Library advisory committee

July 18, 2023

Applications accepted until noon September 5.

The VCU Health Sciences Library is now accepting applications from students for positions on its 2023-24 Student Advisory Committee. This committee is an open and effective communication channel between health sciences students and the library.

The library serves VCU Health and the VCU schools of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing and the College of Health Professions. Undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral and professional students are eligible to serve. The group is facilitated by Library Services Manager Abbey Childs and Research and Education Coordinator Sue Moss. Health Sciences Operations Manager Stephen Barkley and Deputy Director Emily Hurst serve as committee advisors.

Committee members are responsible for reaching out to their respective communities to obtain feedback from all MCV Campus student communities to share with the committee and library representatives. Committee members are also responsible for sharing knowledge gained with peers.

A vital voice, the committee surfaces issues of concern or interest to discuss with decision-makers at VCU Libraries. During monthly lunchtime meetings, invited speakers will engage the committee in conversations on various topics including information about library facilities, resources and services. The committee discusses policy, vision, strategy, services and programs of VCU Libraries.

Committee members are eligible for a $100 gift card at the end of the year and are provided with lunch at all meetings.

Applications accepted until noon September 5.
