StudyWell 21-22 Academic Year

Description

VCU Libraries and partners in the Division of Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success offer StudyWell sessions focusing broadly on student wellbeing. Events highlight all types of health and wellness, including physical, financial, emotional and social health, in addition to academic success.

  • Peer Health Educator Relationship Health 101: Needs, Wants, Tolerates, and Dealbreakers

    Join RecWell's Peer Health Educators to talk about ways to prioritize relationship health. Peer Educators will help students identify healthy relationship habits and how to foster them. Drop by between 1:30 to 3 p.m.

  • Peer Health Educator Mental Health 101: Count Your Zzzzzs

    Join RecWell's Peer Health Educators to talk about ways to prioritize sleep and rest even during finals times. Peer Educators will help students identify ways in which you can prioritize rest and good sleep and how our mental health can affect that. Drop by anytime between 3:30 to 5 p.m.

    Join RecWell’s Peer Health Educatorsto talk about ways to identify and prioritize healthy alcohol consumption. Peer Educators will help students identify unhealthy patterns and identify tools to cultivate healthy practices around Alcohol. Drop by between 5:30 to 7 p.m.

    Join RecWell's Peer Health Educators to discuss ways to prioritize physical well-being during finals season. Peer Educators will help students reflect on their physical activity and nutrition habits and create plans to incorporate physical self- care during finals. Drop by between 1 to 2:30 p.m.

  • Eating Well During Finals
    April 20, noon-1 p.m.

    Presented virtually, Registration required
    Eating healthy as a student can be a struggle. With finals just around the corner, finding time to make informed healthy food choices can be even more challenging. The VCU Health Sciences Library, and VCU Health are here to help you build a plan for making better nutritional choices! Hayley Billingsley, a registered dietician at VCU Health will disucss strategies and tips for creating a sustaining healthy habits for students during finals.

  • Rainbow Poems: Writing Collaborative Poetry (In-Person)
    April 22, 2-3 p.m.
    Cabell Library Room 250, Registration Required
    Poetry has long been used as a tool of self-expression, but rarely do we get the chance to create it collaboratively. Join us for a workshop, in which participants write and remix poems around a shared theme, selected by the group. It can be silly or serious or surreal! No poetry expertise required.

  • Mindful Video Games

    Some video games are designed to promote mindfulness and stress reduction. Immersive environments can provide time for a unique reflective experience. Stop by to try out an immersive game and learn about other video games for mindfulness.

    Join RecWell as they facilitate a mediation session open to all students to help destress during preparation for finals.

  • Mindful Finals Pick-me-up
    May 3, 12-2 p.m.
    Stop by the lobby of either HSL or Cabell to pick up some fresh fruit or some stress balls to help make it through finals.
